I have many hits concerning the firefox kiosk mode. I provide my browser.jar file as download (Save link target as).
Go to the 'chrome' folder in the Mozilla Firefox program directory. Locate the browser.jar file rename it to browser.ja_
Copy my browser.jar instead. Restart Firefox. Watch Firefox in Kiosk mode.
This is a recommended site about Firefox.
Also recommended Andrew Mutchs tutorial for kiosk mode.

Gestern mittag lag ich auf dem Balkon.Thinkpad auf dem Schoß und mittels Eclipse ein bißchen an einer Methode rumgefeilt.
Das Schnurlose klingelt.
„Ja?“
„Hi. Ich bin gerade auf dem Weg zu IKEA und...“
„Moment. Ich geb dir Nicole.“ (Mit IKEA habe ich nichts zu tun)
„...nein, nein ich brauche Dich.“
„Ich denke du lebst in einer Beziehung?“
„Quatsch. Ich war gerade auf dem Weg. Jetzt ist mir unterwegs ein Reifen geplatzt. Jetzt stehe ich hier auf dem Seitenstreifen der Autobahn und kann kein Reifen wechseln.“
„Bist Du nicht im ADAC?“
„Nein. Kannst Du kommen?“
„Ok. Wo stehst Du denn?“
„Zwischen Karlsruhe-Süd und Karlsruhe-Mitte.“
Ich liebe es. Da steht man auf der A5 am Standreifen um einen Reifen an einem französischen Kleinwagen zu wechseln. Jetzt montieren die Franzosen das Ersatzrad unter das Auto. Es ist wirklich ein prickelndes Gefühl unter einem Auto zu liegen, wenn ein 40 Tonner mit 100km/h vorbeizieht. Seit meinem Autobahnunfall habe ich zu solchen Situationen ein ganz spezielles Verhältnis. 10min später war der Reifen gewechselt. Nix wie weg.

Heute morgen bin ich zu unserem Bäcker. Er hat ziemlich unorthodoxe Öffnungszeiten, außerdem Montags Ruhetag und wenn man etwas später erscheint, sind manche Dinge schon aus. Ich kam um die Ecke und es sah recht dunkel aus im Laden. Auf einem kleinen handgeschriebenen Zettel steht 'Urlaub bis 02.06.'. Ich musste grinsen, schüttelte den Kopf und zog von dannen.
Auf zum Backwarenladen, der quasi direkt vor unserer Haustür ist, um dort ein paar Brötchen zu kaufen. Der Laden öffnet morgens um 06:00 Uhr und schließt abends gegen 19:00 Uhr. Es gibt keine Urlaubszeiten und die Waren gehen auch nicht aus.
Weshalb ich nicht gleich dorthin gehe?
Weil es kein Bäcker ist. Es ist ein 'Aufbäcker'. Mir schmeckt diese Einheitspampe nicht. Mir schmeckt nicht, daß diese Läden im Franchise Konzept betrieben werden und der Franchisenehmer (wahrscheinlich noch eine Ich-AG) vier Bäckereifachverkäuferinnenlehrlinge einstellt.
Egal wohin man kommt, alles schmeckt nach BÄKO oder Kamps. Es ist nicht frisch, sondern nur aufgebacken, es ist nicht vollwertig, sondern Industriepampe. Deshalb werde ich mich auch weiterhin gerne über Öffnungszeiten, 'plötzlichen' Urlaub und ausgegangene Waren ärgern. Nach dem 02.06.

Last week I had a beer with a former colleague. He now works as a freelancer for a large company. His goal is to come up with a decision matrix wether to migrate applications to .NET or J2EE (WebSphere). He asked what I'm thinking of the Workplace.
"To be honest, I think it's a replacement for Notes/Domino" I answered.
He tought the same. "But they have a lot to do till then."
He throws a few stones towards IBM and their Marketing. MS has a named exclusive key account manager for this project. IBM? Nope.
He swarmed for Visual Studio and the thight integration to .NET (Didn't surprise me).
I mentioned about Open Standards and Java, but we came to the result that WebSphere is also proprietary because it had to differ to other application server systems.
This was only a little abstract of the talk that evening. I'm looking forward for the next "meeting", Udo.

Eclipse 3.0 Milestone 9 is out. The first thing that I noticed after the update was the new folding feature in the editor. It provides collapsible text regions for method bodies, inner types, Javadoc comments, and import statements.
You can browse much faster through the code and it makes it more readable if you just want to concentrate on certain parts of the code.
Did I mention that I really like Eclipse?

Ich gebe es zu. Ich schaue selten fern. Heute allerdings, als bekennender Formel-1 Anhänger, schaute ich das Qualifying zum spannendesten Rennen der Saison, in Monaco an. Als es vorbei war, fiel sie mir wieder auf, diese Moderatorin, die eindeutig ein kleines Sprachproblem mit den sz Lauten hat. Ich sah sie schon mal als sie von Hawaii moderierte. Dabei erzählte sie von den tollen "Hibiskus" Pflanzen.
In der heutigen Moderation berichtete sie wohl von einer Hochzeit in "Spanien", bei der die Braut "Letizia" heißt.
Bitte RTL, eine Moderatorin die lispelt, was soll das denn?

Jungs wenn ihr euch einen Anzug kauft, entfernt danach das Label auf dem linken Ärmel. Er dient dazu die Marke des Anzugs bereits an der Stange zu erkennen. Probiert den Anzug immer mit den Schuhen die ihr dazu tragen werdet und lasst euch ggf. die Anzughose so kürzen, daß sie gerade noch vor dem Absatz aufhört aber im Stehen keine Socken zu sehen sind.
Solltet ihr einen Einreiher zuknöpfen, lasst den untersten Knopf offen, sonst seht ihr aus wie C3PO.
Liebe Frauen, solltet ihr in einem medizinischen Beruf arbeiten und weiße Baumwollhosen anziehen, bitte keine schwarze Unterwäsche.

Today I joined two WebSphere sessions. The first one on Rational XSD Integration in WADS (WebSphere Application Development Studio). This was a real good presentation by Thomas Sübröcker IBM Germany. What a smooth UML integration.
The next session was about JSF (Java Server Faces) Integration in WADS to bring some RAD to it. Presentation by Ingo Erdmann form the Groupware Competence Center (University of Paderborn). Really interesting.
I changed to two Richtext session. Ralf Mollik from GROUP Technologies explained some indeep stuff on Richtext.
Then the big special. Domino 7 and DB2 presentation by Manfred Lenz, IBM Germany. Do you expect performance issues or to handle millions of documents by changing from nsf to DB2?
This will not happen. The only thing is, if you already using DB2, you can use it as nsf container. So you can use the backup solution of the DB2. That's it.
Only the document meta information (NoteID, Formname etc.) is stored in regular table fields. The document content is stored as BLOB.
Every nsf is stored as a set of four tablespaces with the database name as schema.

Ambuj Goyal talks about Notes 9. And then he showed and explained some exciting things about the IBM Lotus Workplace.
This rich client is based on the Eclipse framework and it'll be possible to replicate data to a local cloudscape database for offline working. The applications will be deployed as components to this Workspace client centralized from the server.
Next on stage was Matt Cain from Metagroup. Did he really say 'Deutschmark'?
Welcome in 2004 Mr. Cain.
I never saw such overloaded presentations in my life and Mr. Cain didn't make an effort to talk, let's say,'clean' English.
I've joined the development sessions. I was really impressed by a life presentation of a selfwritten tool that extract javadoc documentations out of LotusScript classes.

Ganz alltägliche Dinge lassen sich immer noch verbessern.
Ich für meinen Teil habe bei meinen nicht wissenschaftlichen Haushaltsbohrungen immer einen Staubsauger dabei und sauge direkt am Bohrloch den ganzen Staub gleich ab. Ich habe mir dabei nie Gedanken gemacht, sondern das einfach so hingenommen.
Die Firma Bosch bringt jetzt eine Schlagbohrmaschine mit integriertem Staubstauger auf den Markt.
Geniale Sache.

Shamus and Murphy fancied a pint or two but didn't have a lot of money
between them, they could only raise the staggering sum of 50 pence.
Murphy said "Hang on, I have an idea."
He went next door to the butcher's shop and came out with one large sausage.
Shamus said "Are you crazy? Now we don't have any money left at all".
Murphy replied "Don't worry - just follow me."
He went into the pub where he immediately ordered two pints of Guinness and two glasses of Jamieson whiskey.
Shamus said "Now you've lost it. Do you know how much trouble we will be in? We haven't got any money!!"
Murphy replied, with a smile "Don't worry, I have a plan. Cheers!"
They downed their drinks. Murphy said "OK, I'll stick the sausage through my zipper and you go on your knees and put it in your mouth."
Said and done, the barman noticed them, went berserk and threw them out.
They continued this, pub after pub, getting more and more drunk all for free.
At the tenth pub Shamus said "Murphy - I don't think I can do any more o'this. I'm pissed and me knees are killin' me!"
Murphy said "How do you think I feel? I lost the sausage in the third pub."

Mein Vater brachte mir als Kind oft die Zeitschrift 'PM' mit. Ich erinnere mich an einen Artikel über Turboprop Antriebe mit Designstudien solcher Flugzeuge. Später gab es einen kompletten Artikel über den Designer.
Heute hat der Wahl Karlsruher die Ausstellung seines 50jährigen Schaffens in der Nancy Halle eröffnet. Die Ausstellung dauert bis Ende Dezember und kostet 5 Euro Eintritt. Hier ein paar Fotos.
